I think there is such a strong need in our community as homeless shelters are full in many areas, and homeless people are left on the streets. As a Christian, I feel a calling to make a difference where I can, and I can easily carry a few blankets in my car for this time of year. You never know the difference a blanket can make for a displaced person. Many churches in the community, local homeless shelters and disaster relief programs will have blanket drives you can contribute to if you feel comfortable reaching out to these individuals yourself, but this is an epidemic that cannot be ignored. Warm blankets should be something that no one should have to be without. This simple act of kindness can make a big difference. These charitable contributions can oftentimes be a write-off if you save your receipts. Our local organizations have a big need, especially in cold weather, so let’s take a look at a way you can help with an immediate need.

If you do not have the funds to purchase extra blankets for unhoused people. Think about donating extra blankets you might have around your home to a local homeless shelter. Non-profit organizations can use our help in these cold months. There is no reason the homeless population should be dealing with hypothermia, so this year, let’s make a commitment to make a difference and give what we can to ensure everyone can have the luxury of warmth.
